Siena & the Crete Senesi
A great city in the morning, empty clay hills in the afternoon.
8 h day up to 8 guests Private · one group only
We start in Siena, twenty-five minutes away, and walk into the Piazza del Campo early while the city still belongs to the Sienese. You get the cathedral, the shell-shaped square and the lanes, at a human pace.
In the afternoon we head out into the Crete Senesi — the strange, near-treeless clay hills that turn from green to gold through the year. A lone farmhouse, a single line of cypresses, and nothing else for miles.
I know where to pull over so you get the view without the fence or the power line in the frame. It is one of my favourite corners of home.
