Val d'Orcia & Montepulciano Photo Day
The postcard Tuscany — cypress avenues, chapels and a wine town on a hill.
This is the Tuscany people picture before they arrive, and the whole day is planned around when each place actually looks its best — not when the tour buses get there.
We leave early so the cypress avenues near San Quirico and Podere Belvedere still have the soft side-light. From there it is a short hop to the Cappella della Madonna di Vitaleta, standing alone in the fields, before an easy lunch in Pienza with a view over the valley.
In the afternoon we climb up into Montepulciano. You walk the old town at your own pace and we drop into a family cellar carved into the hillside for a tasting of Vino Nobile — I know the people, so it is a proper visit, not a queue.
I carry your bags, wait wherever you stop, and get you back in time for dinner at your villa. Tolls, parking and fuel are already included.
