The drive
North on the A1 for most of it, the motorway that runs the length of the country, then off it into the hills for the last stretch. Around three hours and fifteen minutes door to door in normal conditions.
It is a long enough run that a stop makes sense, and it costs nothing to plan one in rather than improvise at a service station. Tell me when you book if you want one, and roughly when — after a long-haul flight most people would rather push straight through, and that is fine too.
Landing at Rome Fiumicino
Fiumicino is a large airport and the walk from a long-haul gate to the arrivals hall can take a while. That is precisely why I wait inside with a name sign instead of in a car park: after a transatlantic flight, nobody should be standing outside a terminal working out which pillar to look behind.
The flight is tracked from the moment it leaves, so a delay moves the pick-up on its own and costs nothing. Intercontinental arrivals land early in the morning here, which is a normal working hour for this service.
Arriving in Colle and Casole
Colle is stacked in two layers: Colle Alta along the ridge behind its gate, Colle Bassa underneath with the crystal works and the shops. Which one your address is in decides where the van can stop, and since I live here I already know.
Casole d'Elsa is fifteen minutes further west. A great many of the villas rented around here carry a Casole address while the house itself is kilometres out on an unpaved road — perfectly normal, and part of the run. Send the address exactly as the owner wrote it, gate codes and all.

How many people fit in the van?
Up to 8 passengers with their luggage, in a nine-seat Mercedes Vito. Groups of three to eight are exactly what the van is for — you all travel together instead of being split across two cars. For larger parties I can arrange a second vehicle; just tell me the number.
Do you charge per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle. The price is the same whether there are three of you or eight, which is what makes a group transfer good value — the more of you, the less it costs each. Every journey is quoted on request, so send me your date, airport and group size and the figure comes back.
Which airports do you cover?
Florence Peretola (FLR) and Pisa Galileo Galilei (PSA) are the closest, both a little over an hour away. I also drive to and from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA), Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Linate (LIN), Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY), Venice Marco Polo (VCE) and Naples Capodichino (NAP).
