The drive
The first fifty minutes are the Firenze–Siena raccordo, toll-free and quiet, running south through the hills. Then the road turns west at Poggibonsi and climbs — and this is the part people remember, because San Gimignano's towers come into view from several kilometres out and keep disappearing and reappearing as the road bends.
It is a short climb but a narrow one in places. If you want the van stopped at the viewpoint for two minutes so the towers can be photographed properly rather than through a window, just say.
Landing at Florence Peretola
One terminal, one arrivals hall, and a two-minute walk from the belt to the door. I am inside with a name sign rather than waiting in the car park, which matters more than it sounds when there are six of you and eight cases coming through at once.
The flight is tracked and the pick-up moves with it, at no cost. Night arrivals are normal — the service runs twenty-four hours.
Arriving in San Gimignano
The old town is walled and closed to ordinary traffic, so nobody drives up to a door inside it. The vehicle can reach the gates, and there are car parks immediately outside the walls, so the walk is measured in a few hundred metres rather than a hike from a distant lot.
Which gate is right depends entirely on where you are staying — the town is small but it is on a hill, and arriving at the wrong end means going up and over with the luggage. Send me the hotel name with your booking and I will bring you to the right side of it. Agriturismi and villas in the countryside below the town are straightforward door-to-door.

How many people fit in the van?
Up to 8 passengers with their luggage, in a nine-seat Mercedes Vito. Groups of three to eight are exactly what the van is for — you all travel together instead of being split across two cars. For larger parties I can arrange a second vehicle; just tell me the number.
Do you charge per person or per vehicle?
Per vehicle. The price is the same whether there are three of you or eight, which is what makes a group transfer good value — the more of you, the less it costs each. Every journey is quoted on request, so send me your date, airport and group size and the figure comes back.
Which airports do you cover?
Florence Peretola (FLR) and Pisa Galileo Galilei (PSA) are the closest, both a little over an hour away. I also drive to and from Rome Fiumicino (FCO) and Ciampino (CIA), Milan Malpensa (MXP) and Linate (LIN), Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY), Venice Marco Polo (VCE) and Naples Capodichino (NAP).
Can you drive us to a villa in the middle of nowhere?
Yes — that is most of my work. Hotels, villas, agriturismi and farmhouses down unsealed white roads around Siena, Casole d'Elsa, Chianti and the Val d'Orcia. Send me the address or a map pin and I will find it; if the last stretch is rough, I will tell you in advance.
